BEFORE:
Danielle was a junior here before I arrived at IPFW. She was the winner of the IPFW concerto aria competition. The performance was in February 2009. She performs the soprano aria “Batti, Batti o bel Masetto” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
AFTER:
Ms. Reinig studied with me only in her senior year. I came to IPFW in the fall of 2009. It was discovered that many of her issues were related to the fact she was singing in the wrong fach. Here she is six months later after winning the concerto aria competition for the second time. This time singing the Mezzo Aria “Lascia ch’io pianga” George Frideric Handel.f

BEFORE:
Performing “It Was a Lover and his lass” by Geoffrey Bush at the art song festival in Fort Wayne on July 10, 2011.
AFTER:
Ms. Hart entered my studio as a junior in the fall of 2011 when her previous teacher took a position at another institution. On her senior recital in December 2012, she performed Mozart’s “Smanie Implacable…”
Case 3
BEFORE:
Kristopher is one of the most talented incoming students I have had the pleasure of teaching. He had fine instruction in his high school years. He arrived in my studio about like what you hear here. He attended Bloomington for two years and studied sociology. After taking a year off, he transferred to IPFW.
AFTER:
In a mere three months, Kristopher won the IPFW concerto aria competition as a freshman and placed at NATS. Here he is six months later, singing with the IPFW orchestra on February 17, 2014, “Brindisi” by Giuseppe Verdi. In this clip, there is no amplification as in the first clip.
Case 4
BEFORE:
Ms. Kersjes had studied with three teachers (one in high school and two at IPFW) before entering my studio as a junior in the fall of 2012. Here, she is performing “Batti, batti o bel maestro” from “Don Giovanni” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on June 2, 2012.
AFTER:
Here is a performance five months later, in January of 2013. Ms. Kersjes is performing “Signor Ascolta” from “Turandot” by Giacomo Puccini.
Case 5
BEFORE:
Stephanie Johnson performs at the American Art Song Festival on June 12, 2010.
SOPHOMORE BEFORE:
Stephanie performed at the vocal showcase in the fall of 2011. She entered my studio in the fall of 2012 when her previous teacher took a full-time position at another institution.
AFTER:
Stephanie came by for an additional year after completing her education degree and finishing her performance degree. Here, she is performing selections from Hugo Wolf’s “Italienisches Liederbuch” on her senior recital in May of 2014.
Case 6
BEFORE:
At the end of his second year, Drew desired to switch to my studio. Mr. Low, at the end of his second year in April of 2011, performed a portion of the duet “Parigi o Cara” from “La Traviata” by Giuseppe Verdi. The other singers are junior Molly Bock, Mezzo, and Sr Shannon Schoville, soprano.
JUNIOR AFTER:
Here performing with sophomore Brianna Gamble, soprano. This recording of Gounod’s “Ange Adorable” from Romeo et Juliette was a year later, in October 2012.
SENIOR AFTER:
Here, in his senior year, Drew performed Richard Wagner’s “In Fernam Land” from Lohengrin at the IPFW Concerto Aria Winners concert in February 2014.

SOPHOMORE YEAR:
Stephen Stachofsky started with another teacher at Purdue Fort Wayne, transferred in his sophomore year, and returned and started studying with me in the second semester of his sophomore year.
